Manchester United’s wantedaway forward Cristiano Ronaldo has seemingly broken the silence surrounding his future at the club by posting a workout photo in United kit.

He has previously revealed that he wants to leave the club after yet another disappointing season without a trophy, but his latest post may suggest an agreement has been found at Old Trafford for the club icon to stay.

New manager Erik ten Hag is adamant that the five-time Ballon d’Or winner is still in his plans for next season, saying this week: ‘We are planning for Cristiano Ronaldo for the season and that’s it.

I’m looking forward to working with him. Cristiano is not for sale. He is in our plans and we want success together

I spoke with him before this issue came up. I had a conversation with him and I had a good talk. That is between Cristiano and me.’

Ronaldo is absent from the tour on compassionate grounds amid speculation over his future

Ronaldo has asked to leave United, who will be playing Europa League football in the season ahead, should the right offer come in and he isn’t on their pre-season tour of Thailand and Australia after being granted compassionate leave for personal reasons.

Ronaldo had previously been linked with a sensational switch to Premier League rivals Chelsea, having made the announcement that he wanted to exit the Red Devils.

New Blues owner Todd Boehly was open to the move, however after discussions with German manager Thomas Tuchel the club officially ended their interest in Ronaldo, with Tuchel reportedly more focused on the team than the individual.

It is understood that French giants Paris Saint-Germain also rejected the chance to move for the forward, who appears to have limited options after several of the world’s leading sides distanced themselves from his services.

In fact the sole offer that he has received since his shock announcement has been from a Saudi Arabian side, who have offered him the chance to finish his glittering career there.

CNN Portugal say the club would not only pay United a transfer fee of around £25 million to sign Ronaldo but they would offer him a salary in the region of £105m-per-season over two years.
