ICYMI: Arsenal linked with Kante move

Arsenal could reportedly agree a deal to sign N’Golo Kante by the end of the week.

That’s according to Todo Fichajes, with it claimed that Chelsea are willing to sell for less than £20 million as they do not see Kante as a priority to keep and would rather cash in this summer.

The Gunners have already been linked with swoops for Youri Tielemans and Sergej Milinkovic-Savic, with Mikel Arteta keen to bolster his midfield options.

Chelsea push for Koulibaly

Thomas Tuchel is pushing for Chelsea to sign defender Kalidou Koulibaly from Napoli, writes Nizaar Kinsella.

The Blues manager is driving interest in signing the 31-year-old from the Italian club – who values the defender at £33 million.

Any deal at that price would break the Premier League record fee for a player over the age of 30. Koulibaly has been offered £8million-a-year to join Chelsea, which would be a substantial pay rise.

The Serie A club are typically difficult to negotiate with but would rather see their prized defensive asset move to west London than to domestic rivals Juventus.

Ramsey rejects Galatasaray

Aaron Ramsey is believed to have turned down a move to Galatasaray.

Calciomercato claim that the former Arsenal midfielder is keen to return to the Premier League as he looks to leave Juventus, resulting in him rejecting the offer of joining Galatasaray.

It remains to be seen what, if any, Premier League clubs are interested in Ramsey, who had a disappointing loan spell at Rangers in the second half of last season.

Pogba: United upheaval ‘blocked me’

Paul Pogba is confident he will produce his best football at Juventus after joining the club on a free transfer.

The Frenchman left Manchester United at the end of his contract and believes the number of managerial changes at the club impacted his form.

“Changing [Manchester United] coach every year is hard – this was a difficult aspect for me,” Pogba said. “Then there were a few injuries, but I think it was also a mental thing – playing and not playing makes you lose pace.

“There is a bit of everything: coach, team, position. All this has blocked me a bit.

“Now, however, I have left and you will see another Paul. I can do better than in recent years.”

Spalletti on Koulibaly situation

Napoli manager Luciano Spalletti has refused to rule out the possibility that Kalidou Koulibaly will leave the club this summer.

Chelsea are pushing hard to sign the centre-back and are reportedly nearing a deal for Koulibaly.

“I hope he stays as he’s a top player and Kalidou would be our captain this year – but in case Kalidou decides to join another club, we will thank him,” Spalletti said via Fabrizio Romano.

Lewandowski forced to stay?

Robert Lewandowski returned to Bayern Munich for pre-season tests today.

He remains desperate to push through a move to Barcelona, although Bayern are not particularly keen to sanction a deal. It would take a significant offer from Barcelona, which might be even more unlikely should the La Liga make a big-money move for Raphinha as expected.

Could Lewandowski end up staying at Bayern after all?

West Ham in talks for Scamacca

West Ham are in talks with Sassuolo over a move to sign Italy striker Gianluca Scamacca, writes Malik Ouzia.

The Hammers are yet to lodge a formal bid for the forward, with the Serie A side thought to want in the region of €50 million for a player who is under contract until the summer of 2026, but negotiations over a deal have taken place.

The 23-year-old scored 16 goals in 36 league appearances for Sassuolo last term, making his Italy debut in September and featuring in the side that drew 0-0 with England at Molineux last month.

Signing a centre-forward is David Moyes’ main priority as the Hammers ramp up preparations for the new season.
